Italian photographer Walter Niedermayr has long been interested in evidence of human's presence in the environment and the way that people actively transform the landscape. He began photographing Alpine environments and the people who inhabit them in the mid-1980s. While working on his recent series of photographs in Aspen, Colorado he began to reflect on the mountain's adaptations to tourism - the dots of skiers on the white ground of the man-made trails serving as ever-present reminders of the pervasive human influence on the land.
