Laurie Simmons

Laurie Simmons (b. 1949, Long Island, NY) is an American photographer and filmmaker known for her staged photographs of dolls, ventriloquist dummies, and toy figures in domestic interiors. A member of the Pictures Generation, her work examines the construction of femininity, domestic mythology, and desire as they are encoded through popular culture and consumer imagery.
