Mixed media artist Sherri Hay is known for her disaster globes, a series of 5-inch snow globes encapsulating miniature carved environments. When shaken, the world is literally turned upside down, sending the diminutive figures trapped inside flying then falling, cars careening and crashing. The viewer bears witness to this silent, miniature chaos and his or her mind is left to wander, constructing elaborate micro-narratives as to the causes and consequences of this destruction.
