Ken Little

San Antonio based sculptor Ken Little has experimented with many materials and processes during his 40+ year career. He first used shoes in mixed media sculptures in the 70s, but in recent years he has used shoes in combination with other garment materials to create 'big game' busts, reminiscent of wall-mounted hunting trophies. The animals he portrays conjure up a sense of the uncontrollable forces of nature and the wildness of the frontier. The use of shoes and other mass-produced garments, however, asserts the intervening human domination that comes with our imperialist/ capitalist culture.
