Dan Tague

The work of New Orleans artist Dan Tague relentlessly addresses gross negligence and abuses of power in U.S. society, forcing viewers to confront the inadequacies in government policy toward education, environmental health, and financial reform. In his recent work he uses the ready-made material of American currency, which he obsessively folds and arranges to reveal messages. At the core of this work is what the artist perceives as a tug-of-war between American politics and our inalienable right to the pursuit of happiness. He is one of the most visible contemporary artists breaking through to international recognition from a post-Katrina New Orleans.
