New York-based artist Alfred Steiner painstakingly creates watercolor paintings and ink drawings that draw inspiration from anatomy and popular culture. His line drawings capture the energy of the texture of musculature, wood grain or whatever substance he may be rendering. His mind and hand work together, like an x-ray, to decipher the essence of objects and translate them to the page. In these works, Steiner relies completely on line to describe these mysterious amalgams of forms, no shading is necessary.
